Well, sometimes Surface Mail is named by the longest time it can take, and if the Postal Service Amazon use quote 40 weeks, that may be the figure they pass on, so that if it takes that long, even if it's 1 in 1000 which actually takes that long, they can't be held accountable. Despite the name, my friends in the postal industry tell me that Surface just means it waits for the next half empty plane, and goes on that airmail flight, but is cheaper because it's not priority mail. Otherwise, how would it be that a surface mail package arrived to my grandparents in Australia (from Britain) in two days(!) That's even quick for airmail!
I agree, it sounds like a long time, but it's really not that odd, considering accountability.

, I find that collecting magazines is more fun, as they've got the tangibility, whereas a DVD can be sent across the internet in a few minutes, a magazine is a printed thing, which you can show off (if you've got a second copy, or are willing to risk UV Damage to your primary copy), but that's simply my $0.02
