I can't find the film anywhere, and an email to the company has gone unanswered, even when I told them I was willing to pay the full price (I'm not, but I figured I could sell the DVDs off.)

Is there anyone out there who knows how I can get this film on blu-ray? It was on eBay, but I missed the auction, and the seller never sent me actual pictures of the item, so I don't know if it was a BR version or the DVD that she was selling. I've emailed her also, asking if she could relist it, and offering to pay for it outright.

I don't see how something released four months ago can already be so hard to find; it's not even listed on Amazon, anywhere in the world, and they're usually pretty thorough in their catalog and inventory.

If anyone has it, or has any leads, feel free to PM me, please and thank you.

Kegan

The only way the BR version was available was to buy 3 copies of the regular DVD. Its going to be very hard to find, your best bet is to sign up for E-Bay search where they send you an e-mail once one is listed. Be patient, they will turn up on E-Bay.

You could also try any video stores in your area, maybe they got a copy and would be willing to sell it to you.

I checked out the website for the distributors, and as I said, I personally found it to be a ridiculous set-up. I added one of the films to my cart, and I was able to type in difference prices for the same film, which completely baffled me. I don't know if I had to be accepted by them as a seller or what, but again, no reply from them - lovely business practice. Even Canada was nice enough to send back a short reply to my emails.

Not meaning to complain in the least, but I know it's out there, and I'd just like to have it for uniformity's sake - I'm slowly phasing out to blu-ray, and I like to keep up with movies, which is all I really used my PS3 for.

eBay's always my first place to look, and I did post a want ad on the site. I'm in such a small town that I doubt any of the rental places would have the film in stock, let alone be willing to part with it.

We'll see though...the main question is how did such an obscure film company get the release rights to an EP film, TV movie or not? I should think some big-budget distributor would want that in their catalog, even if just to dangle it in front of fans as a possible future release. And all the other films on the site seem low-budget or independent.

I offered to buy a few other DVDs, so by not replying it seems like they're only losing business.

What do I know though? I'm just a guy with money who wanted a movie :rolleye:

Thanks for the reply. The hunt continues lol.

PS - If the offer was 1 blu-ray for three DVDs, then I guess I'm confused as to where all the BRs went, as there are tons of DVD copies everywhere online...very curious :)

Surprisingly, yes lol...$50 is one thing, but it's also been on back-order since 1/5/10.

I've read the display is 720p for the BR...I wonder what the DVD display is once it's up-converted? Worst comes to worst, I'll just settle for the DVD, but as I might have flat out stated on here, I can be picky at times. I don't know why this bothers me not having it, but maybe it's just because I can't

It was a pretty cute movie though, something I'd expect from Disney before they stopped being cool lol can't believe it was on Animal Planet only, and nowhere else, aside from the fact that they helped to produce it.

I cringed a little, but at least now I have it.

Thank you.

Kegan

UPDATE: Check this out. It took like a month to get back to me, but it's a good thing I checked my spam emal:

Hi Kegan,

We can sell these to you direct for $20 each. Please send a check for the titles you would like on Blu-Ray and let us know which titles you would like to order.

Once we receive your check we will process and ship your blu-ray.

Kindly,

Diane Healey
Director of Operations
North American Motion Pictures, LLC
-----

I'm going to email her and see if she means $20 per DVD or BR; I'm assuming DVD, as in the advert, but it's not very clear, so I might luck out.

Hello all-

I've found out some new information about obtaining this movie on blu-ray disc at a much lower price than the $48.99 being charged by CD Universe for a film that's hardly ever in stock - I just canceled my order there, so that single copy is probably back up for grabs. They didn't even notify me; I had to check myself :rolleye: excellent business being run, in my opinion.

Anyway, please read the information above to view my initial comments about this movie; I am seeking the film in a blu-ray format rather than the standard DVD version that seems to be the only one available.

After a second email to North American Motion Pictures, and a wait of about two weeks, I received a reply from the director of operations for the company. Our conversation is posted above.
------
If I am reading that correctly, she is only charging $20 apiece per title ordered; nowhere does she mention having to purchase three DVDs of a movie just to gain a blu-ray copy of the film. Ellen's film is not listed anywhere in the storefront itself, so maybe quantities are limited, but the fact that it took such a long time (in my opinion, at least) to garner a response, and the fact that she includes a cellular/mobile telephone number leads me to believe that perhaps the company is still a small and/or obscure one.

I plan to mail her a check out this afternoon for the above title, as well as one or two others, simply as a show of interest and faith in the company; the films all seem to be low-budget or indie, but that doesn't necessarily make them terrible, as Ellen's early work shows us ;).

Just thought I'd pass along the news, and make folks aware that they can potentially save thirty or so American dollars on what has otherwise appeared to be a hard-to-find film anywhere else.

Ordering directly from a company, you're not forced to pay a merchant's mark-up retail prices.

All the best to you all -

Kegan

Check mailed today (3-10-10) for four different titles on blu-ray, GHOST CAT included. Will keep you posted, in case anyone else is actually interested.

Kegan
