Lynn Shelton to direct 'Laggies'
'Humpday' helmer attached to Anonymous Content indie
By Jeff Sneider | Posted: Thu., Aug. 18, 2011, 4:03pm PT

"Humpday" helmer Lynn Shelton is attached to direct "Laggies," an indie being produced by Anonymous Content.

Andrea Seigel wrote the script, which follows a woman who, unsure of how to respond to her boyfriend's marriage proposal, pretends to go on a retreat but actually ends up spending a week with her new friends, all of whom are in high school.

Protag is described as a 28-year-old who has been living in perpetual adolescence, as she never switched over to the formality that adulthood imposes.

Steve Golin, Rosalie Swedlin and Alix Madigan will produce for Anonymous, which developed the project internally before attaching Shelton.

Shelton is also attached to direct an adaptation of Joshua Ferris' novel "Then We Came to the End" for producers Ted Hope and Anne Carey, though "Laggies" will likely come first as casting will soon get under way.

Shelton wrote, directed, produced and co-starred in "Humpday," which won a special jury prize at Sundance in 2009. Her follow-up feature, "Your Sister's Sister," is set to debut at the Toronto Film Festival. Pic stars Emily Blunt, Rosemarie DeWitt, Mark Duplass and comedian Mike Birbiglia.

UTA reps both Shelton and Seigel, who's managed by Rio Hernandez. Shelton is managed by Anonymous Content.

HUMPDAY Director Lynn Shelton to Helm LAGGIES
by Jason Barr | Posted:August 18th, 2011 at 4:50 pm

In a bit of indie news, director Lynn Shelton (Humpday) has signed on to helm the dramedy Laggies. Written by Andrea Seigel, Laggies tells the story of a 28-year-old woman who is unable to cope with the pressures brought on by her boyfriend’s recent marriage proposal. In turn, she escapes into the comfort of adolescence by befriending a group of high schoolers.

Variety reports that casting on Laggies is set to begin in the near future, meaning that the project will likely take precedent over the adaptation of Joshua Ferris’ novel Then We Came to the End which Shelton is also attached to direct. Steve Golin, Alix Madigan, and Rosalie Swedlin will produce the pic for Anonymous Content. Shelton’s next film, My Sister’s Sister, will premiere at the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival. Emily Blunt, Rosemarie DeWitt, and Mark Duplass star in that pic.

I'm guessing Ellen won't be playing the 28 year old?

Thanks for being on the ball Dominik :) . As for the age thing - that's what screen writers are for, if they want her to star.

Bleh. Humpday wasn't good at all, except for seeing Alycia Delmore's butt, and the funny/awkward stuff at the end. Plus the title is really lame. Not excited.

Sure. Pais provided some further information on his Facebook the other day:

Rehearsal today with Lynn Shelton, Ellen Page and Rosemarie Dewitt for Touchy Feely.

I assume either "Laggies" or "Touchy Feely" is the working title of the project

More details:

Tomorrow I am trailing at a dentist's office for Touchy Feely ( the Lynn Shelton movie where I play a dentist who becomes a healer). And if the acting thing doesn't pan out - fuck it - I'm going into dentistry.

Scoot McNairy Tapped For ‘Promised Land’ And ‘Touchy Feely’
By Mike Fleming | Thursday April 12, 2012 @ 10:26am EDT

Actor Scoot McNairy has joined the Gus Van Sant-directed Promised Land, and has landed the male lead in the Lynn Shelton-directed Touchy Feely, opposite Ellen Page and Rosemarie DeWitt. In the Matt Damon-John Strasinski-starrer Promised Land, McNairy leads a group of farmers that stand up when Damon’s character tries to drill on their land. McNairy is separately producing with his manager/producing partner John Pierce the indie film Frank and Cindy, which GJ Echternkamp will direct. Rene Russo and Michael Pena will star. The film is a scripted version of Echternkamp’s documentary, which focused on the filmmaker’s dysfunctional parents and his relationship with them.

McNairy will next be seen in the Andrew Dominik-directed Killing Me Softly opposite Brad Pitt, and the Ben Affleck-directed Argo for Warner Bros. He is repped by ICM and The Group Management.
