Just stumbled across this feature from Empire Magazine about new female additions to The Avengers 2. They highlighted that Ellen would be great as Squirrel Girl:

Personally, I think it'd be great to see her in a massive action movie like this. There's so many superhero projects being green-lit at the moment due to The Avengers success, what others would she be great in?

In the country dead bodies live in swamps and ditches and shallow graves. A man dumps the body of a girl in a ditch. The body rotts melts into slime. Flowers pop up where the body lies, seeds fly out of the flowers and a bee sucks the flowers and makes honey. Then the family of the girl buys the honey from the store. And the family eats the girl.

Ugh, no no no! Squirrel Girl sound so lame-o.
Though I do find it humorous that many people (myself included) like to see this pale, freckled, scrawny, 100 pounder play a superheroine in movies. She's just so cute, that you can't help but enjoy whatever crappy green screen effects are going off behind her. That said, I was writing a superhero story for myself and I ended up naming one of the main characters Ellen. But my character doesn't wear a lame-o squirrel suit!

Sounds a bit like teasing or mocking, like "The Fierce Earthworm" or something.
But after seeing her as Kitty Pryde I think she would make a good "real" superhero. She made a good fake superhero, anyway.
