Here's a new interview with Landon Pigg - thanks goes to Gwen

THE INSIDER: LANDON PIGG
The singer-songwriter debuts a new album, and kisses Ellen Page.

If you don’t know Landon Pigg, it’s only because you don’t recognize him – he’s the kid in the cell phone commercial who strums wistfully about falling in love. (Watch the first five seconds of this YouTube clip and murmer, “Ohhh, that guy.”)

But the 26-year-old songwriter, who grew up in Nashville and Chicago, has more on his plate than accidental celebrity. This Fall brings the release of his new album, “The Boy Who Never,” and his feature film debut, as Ellen Page’s boyfriend in the comedy Whip It (directed by NYLON girl crush Drew Barrymore).

We interrupted Landon’s Saved by the Bell sing-a-long at RCA Records for a brief interview…

[...]

And now you’re going to be in a movie. How random is that?! And cool!

And you got to kiss Ellen Page. Did you like her? I did, but she liked me, too! I think she just likes people. She’s a really great, super-nice person and she kind of just likes everybody.

And how was Drew Barrymore as your director? How did she cast you? We still can’t figure that out! On the set, she’s like, “Isn’t this great, that here we are, and we’ve found each other somehow, somewhere in the world?” She’s just really, really funny and really nice. She’s exactly like she is on TV.

Is Drew Barrymore your biggest fan? No, that’s Boys 2 Men.

I would even suffer a surname like "Pigg" for that moment.

Bloggers are going to write what they want to write. So you just need to learn to ignore them. The truth is, nobody knows the answer but Ellen, and it shouldn't matter to anybody but Ellen.

And yes, that is not a road you want to go down on these forums. Her sexuality is off-limits.

Juliette Lewis Is a Natural Born Rebel
by Ray Rogers, published on July 22, 2009

There are radicals, and then there is Juliette Lewis, the wildly unpredictable, Oscar-nominated actress-turned-musician, whose rich life story runs the gamut from emancipation and aliens to chemical dependency and Brad Pitt. After a three-year absence from the silver screen, the stunning provocateur cracks the whip with four new films and her most assured album yet.

[...]

It’s a sentiment echoed by her recent film collaborators. “Juliette is not just incredibly talented—she is so remarkably present that I am constantly inspired by her,” says Juno star Ellen Page, who squares off against Lewis’ awesome roller derby baddie “Iron Maven” in the upcoming Drew Barrymore-directed Whip It!, Lewis’ return to the screen this October. “Juliette’s passion, her open heart and her honesty make working with her, and knowing her, a gift .”

[...]

How was it being back on set for Whip It! after this break?
It was my first film in a few years, and it was a really special experience. We would all wake up at 9:00 a.m. and do yoga, strength training for an hour and then six hours of roller derby. We trained
extensively for a month. I’d never been so physical for a role. For Natural Born Killers, I did fight training, but here, we all felt like athletes.

What was Ellen Page like to work with?
She’s awesome, an uncompromising one-of-a-kind renegade. She’s very young but has somehow managed not to get warped priorities by all that Hollywoodland attention.

Does she remind you at all of yourself at that age?
I didn’t want to say that, but yes she does. When I was 19 and I showed up to a photo shoot, I honestly thought that I would take pictures with no makeup on, as myself. I came off as this unpolished,
off-kilter girl—for better or for worse. She’s going through the same thing: trying to maintain a sense of self in all the hoopla.

Alison Pill Replaces Ellen Page in Jack And Diane
Posted on Friday, August 14th, 2009 by Brendon Connelly

Once upon a time, the reunion of Juno playpals Ellen Page and Olivia Thirlby was set to be the werewolf romance Jack & Diane. Unfortunately, the filmmakers had difficulty getting the film going and, the last we heard about it, the project was delayed. At that point, Page said:
It’s a drag that we, as of yet, haven’t filmed it. But it will happen.
And indeed, it appears that it will - though, and rather sadly perhaps, without Ms. Page. According to the film’s official website (found via After Ellen), the project is still “in development”, though now Ellen is out, and Alison Pill is in, while Olivia Thirlby’s involvement remains unchanged. Further corroborating this report, Paste also filed on the film today:
[Director Bradley Rust] Gray is busy on Jack and Diane, a picture about two teenage girls who fall in love (expressed partially through a monstrous creature, earning it the early tag “the lesbian werewolf movie”). The film will have a special-effects budget and animation, a first for Gray. “It’s going to be gross and scary,” he says.
We can raise conjecture all night as to why Ellen Page is no longer on board, and we might even lament her departure till sunrise but the fact of the matter is, Alison Pill is more than capable of making a mighty fist of this.

We’ll be seeing Pill in next year’s Scott Pilgrim vs. The World as Kim Pine, drummer, ex-love of Pilgrim’s and all round sassy frass. That should do her cool factor no end of good.

Also involved in Jack & Diane are some real FX, design and animation talents. Gabe Bartalos is designing the ’skinless beast’ for the film, basing it upon a ’skinned polar bear head’. Further fantastical flourishes will come with the representation of ‘the interior of Diane’s body: a world of blood, hair and teeth which is brought to life by her blossoming sexuality’. These sequences will be animated by the peerless, inimitable Brothers Quay.

Perhaps Werewolves will be the next big thing in teen gothic horror romance, perhaps not. What is sure, however, is that Jack & Diane isn’t going to be easily mistaken for one of the Twilight movies.

As a footnote, it is worth remembering that Ellen Page handed back her contract for Drag Me to Hell as it neared production, the role ultimately going to Alison Lohmann. Maybe she just doesn’t like gore and grue? Or maybe she thinks she owes the Alisons of this world a favour?

Juliette Lewis Talks Gangstas, Villains, Roller Derby and Rock!
posted by dove on 08/25/09

Actress/singer Juliette Lewis stopped through Sirius last week to chop it up with DJ Whoo Kid about her role in the upcoming Drew Barrymore film Whip It, her new rock album Terra Incognita, and how she’s still viewed as the consummate Hollywood villain since 1994’s Natural Born Killers.

Juliette also delves in to some of her life experiences, like sporting cornrows to the Oscars with Brad Pitt in ‘92 and jingling (baby) with her b-girl style. Why was she pushing Ellen Page around? How badass is rapstress Eve? Would she ever party with Diddy? Why is she ruffling Whoo Kid’s feathers? Find out in this RadioPlanet.tv exclusive!

Thanks for the note, Jim. Here is the article on Variety. What a tight schedule. She will barely have finished filming of Inception by the time

I've found an article with some more details (>> "Page will play a "young sociopath who dons a costume and forces herself into Frank’s life as his “kid sidekick”.") :)
Rainn Wilson Is Just Super
So are Ellen Page and Liv Tyler
by Helen O'Hara, published on September 11, 2009

Rainn Wilson, Ellen Page and Liv Tyler are set to star in Super, a new superhero comedy that Slither's James Gunn is writing and directing. Will there be room for some PG-Porn in there, or perhaps a giant mutant alien (just for luck)? We can only hope so.

The Office's Wilson will play an average Joe called Frank D'Arbo who adopts the pseudo-super alter-ego of the Crimson Bolt, and beats up his enemies with a wrench (well, if you don't have superpowers, a wrench'll basically do the same job). He's prompted by seeing his wife Sarah (Tyler) leave him for a charming drug dealer. Juno's Page will play a "young sociopath who dons a costume and forces herself into Frank’s life as his “kid sidekick”.

Gunn says on his website (link below) that the film is "not a wacky, over-the-top comedy. Super is a dark, comedic, gritty, very unusual, and grounded film... Okay, so, yes, this is a movie about superheroes. But what it’s really about is love, violence, perseverance, and faith. It’s not a spoof. It’s an examination of what it means to try to be something more than human. I think of it as The Passion for rebels, oddballs, fanboys, and freaks everywhere. I’ve never been more excited or committed to any project in my life, and I can’t wait to share more with you all."

We are so there.

Shooting starts in December, but in the meantime for your fix of barmy Gunn humour rent Slither on DVD (we mean it) and/or check out some PG-Porn on his website. Safe-ish for work, though you might not realise it at first.
