OK, I guess that's enough gushing about someone nobody else around here cares about :einstein: :raspberry:

I will try, but first I have to get a new camera because my current one (Canon PowerShot S2 IS) has a serious lens aperture problem and only takes black images at the moment :weeping:

*bump* This thread needs to be used more...

Just bought a whole bunch of Ellen DVDs on Region 1 from Amazon so they were oddly cheap:

Marion Bridge
I Downloaded a Ghost
Pit Pony (the movie)
Ghost Cat
An American Crime
The Stone Angel

The only 2 I can't find on Amazon are Touch & Go and Love That Boy which I am aware are extremely rare, still, does anyone inside the UK know of anything about these movies like where I can get them region 2 or region 1 cheap?
In the country dead bodies live in swamps and ditches and shallow graves. A man dumps the body of a girl in a ditch. The body rotts melts into slime. Flowers pop up where the body lies, seeds fly out of the flowers and a bee sucks the flowers and makes honey. Then the family of the girl buys the honey from the store. And the family eats the girl.

Last time I checked Touch and Go was available from Amazon Canada for about $14, they will kill you on the shipping though.

Love That Boy can be had from Amazon Marketplace sellers but I haven't seen it for less than $50.

Maybe Dom can confirm this, I think both movies were only released in Canada, which would explain why they are so hard to find.

Touch & Go is currently available for $16 on eBay. The seller ships worldwide, so hurry up before it's gone :hey:

Yes, you're absolutely right. As far as I know both movies weren't released in other countries. Additionally, "Love That Boy" is indeed out of print, which literally means you will not find it in stores or even on other websites. You can only hope for a re-release some day :sweating2:

"Love That Boy" is available for sale through Mongrel Media, but they only own the rights in Canada and will not ship to the US.

I thought about asking someone to order it for me but the price ($34.95 for the DVD + $10 shipping + shipping cost to me) would be almost the same as ordering it through one of the Amazon Marketplace sellers, so it didn't really make sense to go through the trouble.

I received a message from user 'Bifrons' saying he got a copy of 'Love That Boy' from the distributors so I've emailed them. We can live and hope. :hey:

-- Nov 01, 2010 7:27 pm --

Hate to double post, but I need to bump this thread. Just got through Amazon Canada and the order came to a hefty total for Love That Boy and Touch and Go but I'm willing to pay it.

The only problem is the shipping rates confuse me. I have a choice from:

30-40 weeks (£6)
7-14 weeks (£9.50)
4-10 business days (£18)

I don't want to pay £18 for shipping, but I would like it quicker than 6 months..., does anyone know from experience whether these timings are accurate? (Dom I'm looking at you ;)) Thanks.

Even though you're looking at Dom I think i can answer. In the experience I have with stuff like this it usually comes much faster than 30-40 weeks, but still takes a ridiculously long time. I'm not quite sure what the hell kind of service would take 30-40 weeks to ship, I don't even know what would take 30-40 days, but if that's the estimate they give it'll still take a long time. I'd go with £9.50 shipping if I were you.

...and here I am :beckon:
I have to admit these shipping rates are new to me. I placed orders with Amazon Canada before, but even with the standard rate it shouldn't take longer than 8-12 weeks for the package to arrive. 40 weeks are ridiculous and I guess this is a typing error. I would choose the expedited international shipping option for £9.50 either way.

Yeah I'm assuming it's a typo and it's supposed to be 30-40 days... I mean it's a freaking DVD being shipped across a single ocean, how long can it possibly take? Unless they're intentionally just letting it sit around in their facilities it makes no sense.

Well, sometimes Surface Mail is named by the longest time it can take, and if the Postal Service Amazon use quote 40 weeks, that may be the figure they pass on, so that if it takes that long, even if it's 1 in 1000 which actually takes that long, they can't be held accountable. Despite the name, my friends in the postal industry tell me that Surface just means it waits for the next half empty plane, and goes on that airmail flight, but is cheaper because it's not priority mail. Otherwise, how would it be that a surface mail package arrived to my grandparents in Australia (from Britain) in two days(!) That's even quick for airmail!
I agree, it sounds like a long time, but it's really not that odd, considering accountability.

Back on topic ;), I find that collecting magazines is more fun, as they've got the tangibility, whereas a DVD can be sent across the internet in a few minutes, a magazine is a printed thing, which you can show off (if you've got a second copy, or are willing to risk UV Damage to your primary copy), but that's simply my $0.02

I think Amazon purposely inflates the shipping estimates. When I ordered from Amazon Canada, they said 10-14 day delivery, it came in 2 days.

Yeah and I used Super Saver Shipping once which is supposed to take 7-10 days... took 1 day to process, 1 day to ship and arrive. So I'm hoping that'll help my Inception Collector's Edition get here quicker :p.

Thank you, it's bought :D. I'm hoping I can find a way to get my hands on a copy of Love That Boy some time, the collector in me really wants to own at least a few of Ellen's hardest to find movies.

I just recently got hold of a brand new copy of The Tracey Fragments novel which I'm currently reading and it's fantastic. Generally one of the best books I've ever read. Also got the Juno blu-ray for Christmas and I just ordered a re-printed Hard Candy poster (12x7(?) inches) signed by Ellen off of eBay for £5.50. It's re-printed from a master copy that she signed so it's not like she touched it or anything, but it was the same price as an un-signed one so I just went for it. :D

The poster was once listed on eBay UK, when the movie came out in August :)
