Does anyone know if Whip It will be screened at the Cannes Film Festival? I had heard rumour of that about 6 months ago, but I haven't seen or heard of a line up yet.

I don't know if the system is the same for bigger features, but I know that my friend only recently got a rejection letter for his short film.

I moved these postings as it didn't fit in the "Ellen Skates Like A Pro! (Parade Magazine)" thread.

Regarding the question: I read on Drew's board they still have some issues with the soundtrack, though I don't know how reliable that info is. However, the fact is the movie isn't listed in the official program at the moment :squint: This brings me to the idea, that it will likely premiere at the 2009 Toronto Film Festival :D

I did not see it on the Cannes list, either...bummer

It would be nice if it made its premeire at Toronto (which is in September)....I understand that Peacock is supposed to be shown at Toronto in Sep.

Earlier I mentioned that Mark Mothersbaugh was let go, so he will not score the film (the music actually used in the movie...during and inbetween scenes)....so not sure if that has been taken care of yet

Here's a short excerpt taken from a recent article of LA Weekly, which confirms our assumptions (Thanks to Gwen):
LA Weekly, April 23, 2009
[...]
I take that as a sign and from my back ask her about this movie Whip It, which she directed and is working mightily to finish up for a fall release.
