Thanks Jim, I just checked Amazon and they are saying April 20. At last, we are going to be able to see this movie.

I'll probably end up watching this, only because I love Ellen and Cillian's acting.
Not too hot about Maggie and how she acts, but I'll put up with it.
I knew I shouldn't have read the first draft of the script. It always ruins movies for me
April seems so far away, though. Of course, so did February back in October when I was nearly ready to kill someone to see Shutter Island.

On the one the hand, I'm happy that the movie will finally come out, but on the other hand a direct-to-dvd release isn't a good sign at all. I'm really wondering what went wrong because the plot sounds interesting and the cast speaks for itself. Is the story way too special (considering that Ellen said it "was one of the boldest screenplays she has come across in her albeit short career") or are there simply problems with the funding for instance? Anyway, I'm looking forward to see it!
Btw, I'm in touch with a person involved in this project, who told me there will be a trailer very soon.

I'm sad to see this go straight to DVD, it was a bold venture. I read the script and loved it, very Hitchcock, but I think the subject matter was too weird or edgy for distributors or whoever to take a chance on it. I'm bummed it didn't even get into a festival because I think Cillian Murphy probably gave a performance in here that could be Oscar-worthy but the film will now be lost to the masses on DVD.
With that said though, I'm glad we'll finally get to see this.
Dominik, do you know if Ellen will be doing any sort of promotion for this? Or since its a straight to DVD is that null? Does it still get a release in Europe?

Maybe with luck and time it can become a "cult classic" like Hard Candy.

Independent films are having a harder time getting theatre releases now. The economy is really down in the USA, and the studios are not spending money on films unless it is one of those "blockbusters"Dominik wrote:On the one the hand, I'm happy that the movie will finally come out, but on the other hand a direct-to-dvd release isn't a good sign at all. A couple of years ago, Peacock would have been a wide release, easily. Its script was really good, and, you have some well known actors in it (esp that gal that was in Juno

Wonder if it will be shown at some film festivals? That is how I saw The Tracey Fragments....it had little if any US release

New pictures showing Cillian's alter ego: http://shocktillyoudrop.com/news/topnews.php?id=14218
Edit: And now I've noticed Dominik had already updated the gallery with these high quality stills. He is truly without equal as Webmaster
For Canadian fans, the Peacock DVD is now available for pre-order on Amazon.ca. It will also be released on April 20th, 2010.

Yeah, but at least you guys have Mel Gibson and Nicole Kidman. Oh wait, weren't they born in the US?Lori wrote:

Ah yes, they may have been born there but obviously didn't like it so came to live here (the better country!)

sooo today in my journalism class we did critical reviews of movies...and these 2 guys came up and presented their movie...and they did peacock. Even tho I haven't watched this movie, i'm pretty sure I knew more than these two guys did...first of all one of the guys who was naming off the cast (and wrote them on the board) spelled ellen's name: Elaine Page. I nearly died!
and both of them i think were confused by what the movie was about which is why i think they couldn't describe the plot very well...neither of them liked the movie much. in the end the entire class was confused as to why this guy was a cross dresser and by the way they described it they all believed he had a gender identity issue....i raised my hand and explained at the end that he's living a double life and yaddayadda....those guys failed at life, I swear...... dumb, dumb, dumb.....

I heard there was a German released Region 2 DVD coming out? Is this info true?
In the country dead bodies live in swamps and ditches and shallow graves. A man dumps the body of a girl in a ditch. The body rotts melts into slime. Flowers pop up where the body lies, seeds fly out of the flowers and a bee sucks the flowers and makes honey. Then the family of the girl buys the honey from the store. And the family eats the girl.
